The Amazing Godwin
by David Godwin

(December 2008) -- This column is unusual in that it consists primarily of a conference report—but a conference report with implications. Editor-in-Chief Phyllis Galde and I attended the debut of the Vortex Conference in Burlington, Wisconsin, over the Halloween weekend. The meet was organized by Mary Sutherland, “everybody’s mom” and the leading figure in promoting the weird wonders of the town. And Burlington is weird. No doubt about it. Wisconsin as a whole seems to be a hotbed of paranormal activity, but Burlington has it all in spades. > more

Animal Communication
by Jacquelin Smith

(November 2008) -- I have received many wonderful letters and interesting questions through my FATE column, "Animal Communicaton" over the years, and now that the column has moved online, I encourage all of you to continue to send me questions regarding your pets. Send me an email or visit my website at www.jacquelinsmith.com. "Dear Jacquelin, I enjoy reading your column in FATE Magazine. My cat, Lucky, is extremely skittish. He seems to be afraid of his own shadow. As far as I know, he has never been mistreated in any way, so I don’t understand. Can you tell me why he acts this way?" > more

Your Turn
by The Readers

(December 2008) -- This month's "Your Turn" column at Fatemag.com features a story by Richard J. Lester entitled "Set a Place for the Angel." Lester introduces his piece by writing, "I have written several short stories, however this tale of country folks is somewhat unique.  It relates to the experience of a man as he experiences the benefits offered by a total stranger.  I suggest to you, this if the way life should be on earth.  The story is fictional; however there are many true stories with similar patterns or situations that have not found their way into the living rooms of America.  I called upon my own angel for assistance while composing this story and we pray you will enjoy our efforts." > more
